Two Detroit police officers who used a law enforcement-oriented search engine last year to help find a kidnapped baby girl with sickle cell anemia were honored Tuesday by the company that developed the program.

Andrew Hopfensperger, the Antigo police officer who brought a potentially deadly plot at the 2016 high school prom to a sudden close on the evening of April 23, and Ryan Bula, who was with him that night, received a major awards Wednesday.

Ferreira, who stands on titanium prosthetics, soon fulfills one of his childhood dreams. On Friday, he becomes a Suffolk County police officer.
