NPW07- 12th Annual Law Ride, May 13

cuclesHundreds of law enforcement officers and other supporters on motorcycles rode to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund on Sunday morning for the 12th Annual Law Ride. Law Ride pays tribute to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, in particular motorcycle officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the community.

wreathsFour wreaths were placed at the Memorial in honor of fallen officers. Among this year's riders was US Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, who said that reducing serious — and often fatal — traffic crashes involving law enforcement officers is a top priority of the Department of Transportation. NLEOMF Chairman Craig W. Floyd said more than 1,000 officers have died in motorcycle crashes over the years, including 18 whose names are being added to the Memorial this year.

CraigLaw Ride 2007 is supported by Sprint Nextel and America's Most Wanted, whose host John Walsh also rode. The two presented a $5,000 check in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum. Also presenting donations for the Museum were the Bad Boys Club and the Defenders Motor Club of Naples, FL.
