Karen BassiriSenior Director of Development
Karen Bassiri currently serves as the Senior Director of Development for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. In this capacity she directs and conducts fundraising efforts for the NLEOMF and the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, DC. Prior to moving into this position, Ms. Bassiri had served as Director of Corporate Relations for almost three years. Ms. Bassiri has almost 30 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with special expertise in launching new development programs. Before joining the NLEOMF in November 2006, she spent seven years raising funds to support mental health and social service programs for the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville, Maryland. Among other achievements, Ms. Bassiri raised funds that significantly advanced the research agenda of the National Tuberous Sclerosis Association in the mid-1990s. As the membership and eventual deputy director of the American Corporate Counsel Association, Ms. Bassiri played a major role in expanding the organization into a powerful and effective group serving corporate in-house legal counsel (1984-1991). Early in her career, she handled communications and fundraising for the then-fledgling National Chamber Litigation Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Bassiri graduated (Phi Beta Kappa) from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, with a degree in English Literature. |
