Planned Giving
You can now create a legacy of honor for American law enforcement by making a contribution to the NLEOMF through various planned gift commitments. These contributions can provide benefits for you and your loved ones, while you make a lasting gift in support of America's law enforcement heroes.
- Will or living trust. All it takes is directing part of your estate to go to the Memorial Fund in your will or trust. You can designate a fixed dollar amount or donate a percentage of your estate. There is no immediate cost to you, but it’s a decision that will have a lasting impact for those who protect our public safety and the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.
- Life insurance policy. Policies that are no longer needed for their original purpose can be valuable gifts and can result in welcome tax savings. You may also name NLEOMF as a primary or contigent beneficiary of a policy you already own. Or, purchase a new life insurance policy and designate NLEOMF as the beneficiary.
- Retirement funds. After providing for loved ones, you can make a meaningful gift to the NLEOMF from “what’s left” in your retirement accounts—Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), pension plans, 401(k) accounts and the like.
Because estate planning and tax laws often change, it is always wise to check with your advisors about the best ways to make gifts to the NLEOMF as part of your estate plans.
To help you and your advisors better understand these giving opportunities, the Memorial Fund created this helpful booklet. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have and provide additional information. Please contact us via email or call 202-737-3400.
Circle of Valor
The Circle of Valor was created to pay tribute to our friends and supporters who have included the NLEOMF in their wills or estate plans. When you make a planned gift commitment to us—regardless of size—you become eligible for membership in this thoughtful group.
Circle of Valor members receive acknowledgment in Memorial Fund publications, a subscription to the Circle of Valor newsletter and a special certificate honoring your commitment to our law enforcement heroes.
If you have already made a planned gift to NLEOMF, we hope you will let us know so we may thank you appropriately for your generosity. If you prefer, you can also become an anonymous member of the Circle of Valor.
