This year is turning out to be one of the deadliest years in decades for law enforcement. Why are more law enforcement officers being killed in the line of duty? On Monday, November 26, ABC's World News with Charles Gibson will begin a two-part series that takes an in-depth look at the growing dangers faced by police and what's being done about them.

ABC News Senior Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas, on Monday, reports on the disturbing surge in violence against law enforcement. On Tuesday, weapons of war are ending up on America's streets in alarming numbers. Correspondent Jeffrey Kofman looks at how some law enforcement agencies are arming-up to protect themselves and their communities from the threat of heavily armed criminals.
