What we know:

  • This item was left by an unknown donor in our Visitors Center sometime before 2006.

  • Someone may have worn the hat on or after September 11, 2001.

  • The front sticker and label printed on the side identify the hat as PAPD (Port Authority Police Department) Emergency Services.

  • The side sticker identifies Local 14 New York City.

What we want to know:

  • When and where was this hard hat worn?

  • Who wore it and what was he/she doing while wearing it?

  • What are the related organizations and meanings of the 5 stickers and labels on the hat?
