A Day of NASCAR Racing, A Salute to Law Enforcement

Dover International Speedway to hold second annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, May 16, 2010; proceeds from special law enforcement package benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund

January 28, 2010

DOVER, DE — On Sunday, May 16, 2010, Dover International Speedway and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) are teaming up to honor the law enforcement community by offering an exciting day of NASCAR racing and a chance to support a great cause.

An all-inclusive package exclusively for law enforcement officers, their families and supporters is available now for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the track known as the Monster Mile. A portion of the proceeds from this second annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day event benefits the Memorial Fund and its work to honor America’s fallen law enforcement heroes.

Coming this year at the conclusion of National Police Week 2010, the special $99 offer provides the following:

  • a ticket in a premium grandstand location for the Autism Speaks 400 presented by HERSHEY'S Milk & Milkshakes NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race,
  • admission to pre-race activities,
  • NLEOMF hospitality area with an all-you-can-eat buffet and beverages, including Pepsi and Anheuser-Busch products,
  • industry presentations,
  • Q&A with invited NASCAR drivers and special guests,
  • trackside tour of Dover International Speedway.

"I had a great time last year," said a Pennsylvania officer who attended the 2009 Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at the Monster Mile. "The NLEOMF hospitality tent had plenty of food and drinks, and I truly enjoyed my time hanging out with the other race fans/police officers from around the country.  It was an extremely enjoyable event and I look forward to being a part of the 2010 appreciation day."

"Last year was a big success with almost 600 law enforcement officers, families and supporters in attendance.  We hope to double if not triple last year’s numbers and end National Police Week 2010 with a day of camaraderie and NASCAR racing,” said Craig W. Floyd, Chairman and CEO of the NLEOMF.  “I personally enjoyed seeing so many of our supporters taking the time last year to enjoy themselves while also remembering those officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.  I thank our partners at Dover for creating such a special package for the law enforcement community, and I look forward to the festivities on May 16.”

To purchase this special offer, visit www.DoverSpeedway.com/HONOR10 or call the Dover ticket office at 800-441-RACE and mention code "HONOR10." A portion of all proceeds will benefit the NLEOMF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Washington, DC.

The Memorial Fund’s mission is to generate increased public support for the law enforcement profession by permanently recording and appropriately commemorating the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers, and to provide information that will help promote law enforcement safety. The NLEOMF maintains the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, and is a principal organizer of National Police Week each May.

NASCAR returns to the Monster Mile on May 14-16 and Sept. 24-26, 2010. To purchase tickets, or for more information, call 800-441-RACE or visit DoverSpeedway.com.
