COPS Officer—Deadly Calls and Fatal Encounters

NHTSA Officer Safety Initiatives
Since 2011, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have worked together to actively promote law enforcement officer safety on the roadways.
As part of the United States Attorney General’s Officer Safety Initiative, VALOR was created to respond to the startling increase in felonious assaults that have taken the lives of many law enforcement officers. VALOR is designed to be a comprehensive effort that will include classroom and Web-based training, research, and resources for sworn state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers.
