Description: Superintendent/Director Morrone was among the more than seventy police officers from a total of seven federal, state, and local agencies who were killed when terrorists crashed two of four hijacked planes into the World Trade Center towers in New York City on the morning of September 11, 2001. Director Morrone was the Superintendent of Public Safety for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Director Morrone was the highest ranked law enforcement officer killed in the World Trade Center bombings.
