In Valor There Is Hope

By  Kathy Smith , November 14, 2012

I am the daughter of a Marine who took a bullet in the chest at Iwo Jima. A sister to 2 brothers who served during war time, one now has a 120% Disability rating. My late spouse, ATSAIC Christopher Smith, served in the Air Force and also rec'd his BS Degree while serving. His father served 20 yrs. in the Air Force. Our families on both sides have valiantly taken the stand to "protect and serve", in the armed forces and law enforcement community. I completed a 4 year college degree, thanks to a Veteran's Scholarship, probably undeserved. I remain forever grateful to each and every veteran and active duty soldier who has defended and protects the freedoms so many people take for granted, for they are my heroes.
