Sgt. Cornel Young, Jr,

Today, January 28, 2012, is a difficult day for the Young family. It is the day, 12 years ago, that our son, Sgt. Cornel Young, Jr. (Jai to us), Providence Police Department, was killed in the line of duty. We think about him and miss him everyday. His memory and legacy will live on for many years through all of us who loved him. We celebrate his life and all he accomplished in his 29 years on earth by giving back to others. We opened the Sgt. Cornel Young, Jr. Scholarship Fund through the RI Foundation, 1 Union Station, Providence, RI in his memory 12 years ago and have given out 43 scholarships to students. In 2012 we hope to give out 4 more scholarships to students in Providence, RI bringing our total to 47. Donations can be made annually to the Foundation. We are so proud and grateful for the love and generosity given through the years. Giving is a gift of LOVE and we thank you. xoxo
