Honor Guard Events

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) offers several opportunities for law enforcement honor guards to participate in National Police Week.
Honor Guard Cordons
Honor Guard Cordons takes place during the Candlelight Vigil on Monday, May 13, 2024. As current year survivors are led from their buses to the seating area, they walk through honor guard cordons. Each cordon rotation is 30 minutes in length. The first shift is anticipated to start at or about 4:30pm and the last at 7:30 pm. The Candlelight Vigil begins at 8:00 pm. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your designated time slot. The Honor Guard tent will be located on the north side of the National Mall on Madison Drive between 4th and 7th streets.

Stand Watch for the Fallen
Beginning at 12pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, honor guards will stand watch for 10-minute intervals. The first shift begins at noon and the last at 11:50pm. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your selected time slot. After TAPS is played, the wreath is taken to the Survivors’ host hotel.

Honor Guard Reception at the Museum
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund will be hosting a combined Honor Guard/Police Unity Tour reception at the National Law Enforcement Museum on May 12, 2024, from 7-9 pm EST. Honor Guard members and teams who are volunteering for either the Candlelight Vigil or Stand Watch for the Fallen may attend. Registration is required, below.
Please note, we anticipate that attendees will cycle in and out of the event, but it is possible at various points that we reach capacity inside the museum. As such, please consider this a first come-first served event which may result in either a wait at the door or being turned away should we reach capacity.
